Satin Angora rabbit (red color) bred by Caroline Waskow. This rabbit was Best of Breed Satin Angora at the 2012 ARBA convention.

Bucks and does: 6 1/2 – 9 1/2 lbs. Ideal weight is 8 lbs.

Commercial body type. Satinized coat has fine diameter, “shiny” wool fibers. White and Colored. Accomplished spinners delight in the texture of Satin Angora fiber; in fact, many spinners prefer it! Short, satinized fur on the head, ears, and paws. This breed is an active and mischievous, playful rabbit. The Satin Angora does not usually produce the volume of fiber that the other Angoras do, but makes up for it with its texture and beauty.

Minimum cage size for a single rabbit should be no less than 24 inches wide by 30 inches long by 18 inches high. The larger the cage, the better. An optimum cage size might be 30 X 30 X 18 high, or 24 X 36 X 18 high.

A mature Satin Angora may require from 1 cup to 2 cups of pelleted rabbit food daily. Monitor each rabbit and adjust food amount according to its condition.
