Moving towards Convention

I sheared and bred what may be my best doe. I’ve got this young tort doe that I took to the shows last spring. Younger and smaller than the others, she usually placed last, but always got good comments. A few days ago, I realized that she has developed into the best I have. I decided she is too nice to leave the barn. I sheared her and bred her, instead.

The buck I bred her to has just turned six months old. He is very similar to her in type, but his hocks are not quite as correct as hers. Keeping my fingers crossed that she has babies.

It is still pretty, but not fresh anymore. I have her full sister, a tort, who might make it. The REW doe, Peugeot, who will be a year old then, might make it.

I have a chestnut doe that looks promising, but the chestnut color looks so muddy when compared to tortoiseshell, that I fear that will hold her back.
