Mid America Angora Club News January 2013

Report from Margaret Bartold:

I hope this newsletter finds all of you starting with a bright, healthy, happy New Year! As for the weather…well most of us have had a winter with little snow which is a concern as the spring time gets closer. We need so much moisture it’s a concern as to what the crops will be.

NATIONAL ANGORA SPECIALTY SHOW OF 2014

The Upper Midwest Angora Club contacted me and wants to know if we would like to host the National Angora Specialty Show again in 2014. The plan would be to have it again in Amana, Iowa in conjunction with the Cedar Rapids RBA. This seemed to work very well. If anyone is opposed to this please let me know otherwise I’ll contact them and say ‘yes’. It is really the Midwest’s turn to host the National Angora Specialty Show and even though it was great having it in Sedalia, MO with the Midwest Trailblazers it was very nice to have another club help. Amana, IA is about the midway point for those in the Upper Midwest Angora Club and several of us in Mid America Angora Club. The Cedar Rapids RBA show is held the third weekend in April.

The ARBA Convention was held in Wichita, KS in October and I would like to thank EVERYONE who helped make it a success. Mid America Angora Club was the host club and I believe exhibitors were impressed with the facilities. The next ARBA Convention will be held in Harrisburg, PA from October19-23, 2013. If you plan to attend and have not already done so, I suggest you make reservations at a motel/hotel as there are two other large events taking place at the same time. I managed to get a couple of does bred (hopefully) but will see if there is anything worthy of going to PA.

MID AMERICA ANGORA CLUB WEEKEND

Please mark your calendars to attend our yearly get-together in Sedalia, MO on April 5th and 6th. MAAC will provide lunch on Saturday. Be sure to bring items you have made to share with others as well as your fiber, spinning wheel, lawn chair, and bunnies. MAAC will host a specialty show on Saturday with the entry fee of $2.50 per rabbit.
